Check in with your Fitness

Review the Requirements

Review the physical fitness standards that all officers who attend the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center are required to meet. Recruits will be required to meet these standards prior to final employment offers.

Recruits at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center must be age 21 by the time they graduate from the academy, and recruits are held to high personal and moral standards regarding past criminal activity.

If we are currently taking applications, complete and submit your application before the deadline. It's important to fill out applications with complete honesty - many applicants are disqualified not because of their past, but because they were not honest about it.

Applicants who are initially selected during the hiring process will be asked to complete a more thorough background questionnaire. 

PT Testing

Remember the physical fitness test shown above? Applicants who are initially selected during the hiring process will be required to complete the fitness test administered by the Hastings Police Department prior to receiving a final employment offer. Your recruitment officer will assist you to get this scheduled.

TABE Testing

Applicants who are initially selected during the hiring process will be required to take and pass a Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Your recruitment officer will assist you to get this scheduled.

Oral Board Interviews

Applicants who are initially selected during the hiring process will be required to participate in an oral board interview with the Hastings Police Department administration and the City of Hastings Human Resources Department.

Conditional Offer

Applicants who receive conditional offers of employment are required to participate in a psychological evaluation, a polygraph examination, physical ability testing, and drug testing. Your recruitment officer will assist you to get this scheduled.

Final Offer

Applicants who perform at or above the required level for testing and interviews may receive a final offer for employment. Your recruitment officer will prepare you for the 16-week academy at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
